Call for papers

Welcome to the website of the 33rd International Symposium on Money, Banking and Finance, annual meeting of the European Research Group (GdRE) on Money Banking and Finance. The conference will be held at the University d'Auvergne, in the city of Clermont-Ferrand, on 7-8th July 2016. It is locally organized by the research department CERDI (Centre d'Etudes et de Recherche sur le Développement international).

Papers will be reviewed by multiple members of the Program Committee. Authors of accepted papers are expected to attend the entire conference and be available to serve as session chairs or discussants.

The organizing research department

CERDI is a research centre dedicated to the study of the process of international development. It brings together economists, CNRS researchers and lecturers of the University of Auvergne (Clermont Ferrand, France) from various fields of competence, who cover both the macroeconomic and microeconomic aspects of development. The countries with low or intermediate levels of income are the focus of the work of CERDI.

CERDI works regularly with French government bodies (French Development Agency, Ministries), Regional bodies (Development banks, the Regional integration institutions), and the International organisations (United Nations, International Monetary Fund, World Bank) which are in charge of development policies and their funding.

CERDI collaborates with FERDI (Foundation for study and research on international development) and IDDRI (Institute for sustainable development and international relations) as part of the Excellence laboratory (Labex) IDGM+

GDRE Money Banking and Finance

The European research group, GDRE (Groupement De Recherche Européen) in Money, Banking and Finance is a French and international thematic network. It aims to enhance collaborations between researchers in the fields of money, banking and finance from many universities and other institutions in France and abroad. Among research fields which are very active at the moment one may note: monetary theory, monetary and financial macroeconomics, international finance and financial stability, monetary and financial history, intermediation and financial systems, analysis of financial behaviours and asset price dynamics, banking risks and regulation, alternative finance… The network actively collaborates with the Money, Macro and Finance Research Group based in the UK.

The directors of the GDRE Money, Banking and Finance are Jean-Bernard Chatelain (Centre d’Economie de la Sorbonne (CES), University Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne), and Alexis Direr (Laboratoire d’Economie d’Orléans (LEO), University of Orléans). They are in charge of the coordination of the program committee of the annual conference, among other scientific and administrative matters.

The GDRE, established in 2007 is a research network which aggregates more than 15 research departments in France and abroad. It organizes an annual symposium in a different university every year where around 100 economists from universities, central banks and other financial institutions participate. This makes the conference one of the most prominent in Europe in the field of money banking and finance.
